MentorSETApplication Form

How to apply

If you would like to apply to be a mentor or mentee, please complete the on-line form below. You need not answer all the questions, but the more information we have, the better our matching will be. (A Microsoft Word version of the form is also available for completing off-line. See the bottom of the page).

Note, mentees must be UK citizens or resident in the UK with a valid work permit. Mentees should be a member of either WES or one of the affiliated groups such as CamAWiSE, IOP womens group, DJ Trust Fellow, Women@cl, GETSET from the UKRC or BCSwomen. If you are not now a member, please check out the information and links on the WES page. We hope you will want to join for much more than just the mentoring scheme!

Information provided will be kept confidentially on a MentorSET / UKRC (MentorSET's sponsors) database. By applying, you are agreeing to this.

The pairing process

To obtain the most from the partnership, it is advicable to attend one of the MentorSET workshops which take place on a regular basis in varying locations.

Mentees: we will use the information you provide on the form to match you with an appropriate mentor; taking particular note of your main reason for seeking a mentor.

Mentors: we will match you with a mentee according to your expertise, experience and skills, as stated on the form.

No match will be perfect but once we believe we have found a suitable match, we will contact both the mentor and mentee and provide anonymous information about your proposed mentoring partner. If both parties are happy with the proposed match, we will exchange contact details.

The MentorSET guideline booklet provides details on the suggested way of undertaking the partnership.

How Much Does It Cost?

The MentorSET scheme is currently FREE to both Mentors and Mentees but in return we expect mentees to give as much as they receive, by becoming a mentor and helping another MentorSET mentee, either now or at sometime in the future.

We strongly encourage women who are mid career to apply to be both a mentor and a mentee. You do not need to be at the top of your profession to be a MentorSET mentor and you will gain more by being both a mentor and a mentee.
